HAJJ CHRONICLES II

The next entry in my Hajj journal is somewhat as follows:

BISMIHI

HAJJ CLASS II 26.10.10

MOLVI ABDUR RAUF

SAKHARVI

*follow the books provided:

It is very important to read the literature provided. Do not consult any other books which are commonly available yet not always authentic.

*apply Sunnah (teachings of the holy Prophet Pbuh):

Make sure to observe Sunnah as much as possible. Even the holy Quran instructs us to follow the ways and teachings of the Holy Prophet Pbuh.

*apply “mushaahida” (common sense):

While facing confusion during performing any rites we can look around to observe what other pilgrims are doing and do the same. Yet, we should not follow them blindly, rather we should apply common sense to figure out whether those acts seem correct or not, and whether they are like those that have been explained to us during our Hajj classes.

*listen carefully:

Listen attentively and make mental/written notes of all that is being taught…

1- rites of the ihram:

-cleanse yourself physically and spiritually;

-wear the ihram, make the intention and recite the talbiyah (Labbaik);

-correct all past mistakes to gain spiritual contentment (pay off any loans, cover up on missed salaah and siyaam, ask forgiveness from the Creator and the Creation);

-note down all your financial matters and hand them over to heir;

-before leaving for the journey, offer two rakaahs nafl for “teht-al-safar”;

-whenever we recite the talbiyah we should try doing it thrice, followed by duaas asking Allah swt for Jannah and forgiveness from hell fire;

-DO NOT SKIP SALAAH AT ANY POINT IN THE JOURNEY; we are making the pilgrimage because it is fard ibaadah at least once in a lifetime, while salaah is fard five times a day! NO REASON TO SKIP SALAAH AT ALL!!!

-Three kinds of Hajj:

*Ifraad: if we make the intention of performing this type of hajj, then we are not supposed to perform umra on arrival, neither do we have to sacrifice an animal for hajj nor do we remove the ihram till hajj is concluded.

*tumattu’a: while performing this type of hajj we remove the ihram after performing umra upon arrival, and make sacrifice after to conclude hajj rites.

*qiraan: we do perform umra upon arrival but do not remove ihram till we perform sacrifice as last hajj rite.

-it is best to perform ghusl before ihram.

-apply whatever little fragrance you do after ghusl.

-very simple limitations for women, subhanAllah!

No particular garment of ihram for women;

Avoid intentional hair breakage;

Should not let anything touch our face for too long.

-Always make sure to perform wudu properly.

-READ AND REMEMBER THE “MAKROOH”, “MAMNOON”, AND “JAAIZ”. (The not appreciated acts, the impermissible acts and the permitted acts).

-Best among all actions during hajj is to constantly recite the talbiyah.

-treat Jeddah as the gateway to the Haram Shareef.

-Once we are past the “book monument” (the point from where Muslims and non-Muslims separate ways!), we will be rewarded abundantly for the smallest act, gesture or intention of kindness! SubhanAllah!

- make much duaas.

- avoid using fragrant soaps and towels.

- There is no preferred time for performing umra;

And there is not any preferred entrance to the Haram Shareef.

-recite the dua’a meant for entering the Great Mosque as well as the one meant for itikaaf.

- No talbiyah after we begin making the tawaf.

- In fact, we should discontinue talbiyah till we conclude our umra, inshAllah!

- do recite the Kalma-i-Shahadah once the intention for tawaf has been made, it is a means to gain huge rewards from Allah swt!

- When passing by the Rukn-i-Yemeni, recite masnoon duaas (duaas found in the Sunnah), and other duaas, because it is at this point that angels say amen to the dua’a we make!

- move on for say’ee after completing the tawaf and offering two rakaahs of salaah near the Maqaam-i-Ibrahim.

-recite two nafl salaah and offer gratitude to Allah swt after umra is completed inshAllah!

-multazim is the lap of Allah swt! SubhanAllah!

    sister, you have taken us on a Hajj journey before even going yourself,lol:)MashaALLAH!
    I remember when I went for Hajj there were few people in the bus who did not want to stop for fajr to reach MAkkah quickly. Nevertheless, in the end, we managed to convince the driver to stop the bus.:) Alhamdulillah
    Reading your blog took me down my memory lane of those beautiful, lovely days.
    I pray that you have the most spiritual of time and that you taste the sweetness of Iman and feel the majesty of Allah(SWT). When you go to Madinah Munawwra, dear sister, offer my Salam to Prophet(S). May ALLAh (SWT) make this your best Hajj ever, and call you to His Bait many a times more. and make every hajj better than the previous one. ameen
    with that being said, my sis in Islam, I give you in the protection of Our RAb. May He bring you safely back to your home with rich bounties of heart. ameen.
